This 5-day Uganda safari takes you to the misty and magical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the iconic mountain gorillas, as well as Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most rewarding wildlife destinations. Bwindi offers an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience, rich birdlife, cultural encounters, and breathtaking scenery of rolling hills and lush forests. You will get the rare chance to observe mountain gorillas at close range as they feed, play, and rest in their natural habitat before continuing to Queen Elizabeth National Park for classic game viewing and a scenic boat cruise.
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Kampala–Masaka highway, a journey of about 7 hours. En route, you will stop at the Equator for photography and continue to Mbarara for lunch. After lunch, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is approximately a 3-hour drive from Mbarara. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner.

Day 2: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Launch Cruise
Early in the morning, head out for a game drive in the northern sector of the park, especially the Kasenyi plains, in search of lions, leopards, and other wildlife. Along the tracks, you may encounter large herds of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, and giant forest hogs. Return to the lodge for lunch, then later enjoy a launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel at 2:00 pm. This boat ride offers excellent sightings of hippos, elephants, buffaloes, and a wide variety of bird species along the water’s edge. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Ishasha Sector and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast at 8:00 am, transfer to the Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park in search of the famous tree-climbing lions. This area is known for lions that rest in the branches of fig trees, especially during the heat of the day. After the game drive, continue for lunch at a lodge in the area, then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for check-in. In the evening, enjoy a Batwa community walk for a cultural experience with the indigenous forest people.
Optional Activity:
You go for morning chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge or Kalinzu Forest Reserve, which is a great chimpanzee tracking destination near Queen Elizabeth National Park. Kalinzu is also rich in birdlife and other primate species.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking Adventure
Wake up early for breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for a briefing by the ranger guides before beginning your gorilla trek at around 8:30 am. Gorilla trekking is one of Africa’s most rewarding wildlife experiences, although it can be physically demanding. The trek may take anywhere from one hour to several hours, depending on the movement of the gorilla family in the forest. Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, check out and transfer either to Entebbe International Airport or Kigali International Airport for your onward journey. The drive to Entebbe takes more than 8 hours from Bwindi, while the drive to Kigali is approximately 4 to 5 hours.
