Lake Mburo National park is famous for its stunning wildlife and Lake mburo. From which the park gets its name, flooding with hippos, flamingos and other water birds. This park is located in Kiruhura district western region of Uganda, and about 30km by road, east of Mbarara the largest city around that region. The park is over 260sqkm and so relatively small compared to other parks in Uganda.
The park is the only park in Uganda where you can do a wildlife safari on foot to have a great view of its animals and bird species. Expect to see plenty of Zebras, Eland and Impala. Going earlier is recommended if one wishes to trek the animals while the animal’s tracks are still fresh. Wading through dump grass, you will have a golden opportunity to view the wild life up close.
The birding experience is also one of a kind. You will marvel at over 300 birds species perched up on trees, flying about and pecking at barks of trees.
