This 2-day Bwindi Gorilla Safari via Kigali is perfectly designed for travelers with limited time who still want to experience the unforgettable adventure of trekking mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Starting from Kigali significantly reduces travel time, with a scenic drive of approximately 4–5 hours to Bwindi, compared to the much longer journey from Entebbe. This makes it one of the most convenient and efficient ways to access Uganda’s gorilla trekking experience.

this safari offers a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas, combined with breathtaking landscapes and cultural highlights along the way. It is also a cost-effective option, with gorilla trekking permits currently priced at USD 800 per person per trek in Uganda.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This day starts with your driver guide picking you up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali and embarking on an exciting road drive to extreme southwestern Uganda. A stopover for lunch will be made en route. The dense rainforest of Bwindi, famous for its gorilla population, is one of the most fertile and rich in the world, being home to a variety of primates, plants, and tropical birds. On arrival, you will have a visit to Batwa pygmy’s community for a culture visit, dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge amidst the forests and verdant hills of Bwindi as you wait for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Transfer to Kigali

You will wake up for an early morning breakfast and proceed to the briefing point. You will get to enjoy the highlight of your trip—Gorilla trekking, which may last from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the group you are visiting. You will trek through the rainforest and bamboo-covered slopes, accompanied by a Uganda Wildlife Authority guide and other trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family. The walk can sometimes be tough and long, but when you catch a glimpse of the magnificent silverback, any discomfort will be quickly forgotten. Due to the nature of the activity, you will have a packed lunch. After gorilla trekking, you will drive through the terraced hills to Kigali city, and upon arrival, your driver will drop you off at the airport.
